4 Things I Learned From 4 Years Of Blogging
I’ve been blogging for a bit over four years now and it can be very eye opening. Blogging is most definitely a learning experience, at least it has been for me. Here are four things I’ve learned so far:
It’s a two way street– this is one of the first things that I’ve picked up from blogging all this time. When it comes to the WordPress community it is most definitely a two way street. If you support other blogs and get to know other bloggers they are more than happy to support you. However, if you are just going to keep posting without being active on other blogs than it may take much longer for your blog to grow.
There are a lot of great people out there– with everything that’s going on in the world it’s easy to become a little pessimistic and begin to lose faith in humanity. However, blogging really reminded me that there are so many amazing people out there with amazing stories of all the great things they’ve done. Not only that I’ve found that the WordPress community is like a family that’s always there for you when you need them. That’s one of my favourite things about blogging.
Patience is key– If you are hoping for your blog to become an overnight sensation I’m going to be honest and tell you that’s probably not going to happen. Another thing I’ve learnt about blogging is that no matter how good your posts are it takes a lot of time, hard work and patience before your blog can really take off. It doesn’t happen overnight but it is most definitely worth the wait.
Always keep it real- one of the most important things I’ve learnt over the years is that the audience will be able to tell whether or not you are passionate about the topic you are writing about. If you are passionate and real with your audience they will be able to tell and will appreciate you for always being honest with them.
