Farmers Almanac and Old Farmers Almanac

The new winter predictions are out. The Farmers Almanac and the Old Farmers Almanac Both Almanac’s get a lot of attention and buzz each year when the winter predictions are released. I read both almanac predictions this year both are very similar in the content for the upcoming winter around the United States.

My opinion on both almanac’s are, their predictions are usually not that accurat. (At least in terms of my area of the country) I have read the NOAA forecast last several winters as well. NOAA was very close to predicating an almost close to perfect forecast as it can get. Remember, these forecast are only predictions. I really like the NOAA forecast and the articles that are published on the site.

The first map below is for October, Novemeber and December 2019.

The Second map below is for Decemeber 2019, January 2020, February 2020

Right now NOAA is at 50/50 split that El Nino could stay for the 2019-2020 Winter Season

As far as winter goes here in the Northeast. No matter what the predictions show for any of these sources. Winter in the Northeast is the same every year. No matter what there will be snow at some point that falls and sticks. Yes, it may not stay long and may melt within a day or two after the snow has fallen, but it will still fall and stick at some point. Roads will have to get salted and everything will be slushy, wet and dirty. The sky will be cloudy and grey. It will be dark most of the day and the trees will be brown and bare. It is winter in the Northeast. The predictions can show above normal temp, and yes most of winter can be above normal no doubt. But remember, when these predictions show above normal temps, this does not mean that each and every day will be mild. This just means that the average for those 3 months of winter happen to be above the normal that would occur on a typical winter day. So, for the Northeast what that means for me is it will be cloudy, it will be cold, it will be dark and wet. The bottom line is no matter which way you look at this or which way you try to word these predictions, there is only one phrase that will be the true outcome, “Winter is Coming!”

  2. Hey there, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog site in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, great blog!
